Dr Johan Weemaes portrait

Dr Johan Weemaes

Dr Johan Weemaes is the co-owner and principal clinician at Avenue Dental Maroochydore, with a clinical focus in advanced implantology, surgical procedures, and aesthetic dentistry. His practice philosophy emphasises precision-driven, evidence-based treatment, with special interests in full-arch rehabilitation, transcrestal and lateral sinus augmentation, and soft and hard tissue management around implants.

Johan completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland. He was the inaugural recipient of the Australian Dental Graduate of the Year Award in 2014, which recognised his early clinical excellence and leadership potential. Since then, Johan has dedicated his career to advancing surgical and prosthetic implantology, completing formal postgraduate training including a Masters in Oral Implantology (Goethe University, Frankfurt) and a Diploma in Implantology (Switzerland). He holds Diplomate status with the International College of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and is an active member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

In addition to clinical practice, Johan is committed to peer education and mentorship, regularly delivering lectures and hands-on training workshops for general dentists seeking to expand their skills in implantology, sinus augmentation (crestal and lateral), "all-on-X" concepts, full-mouth rehabilitations, and complex soft tissue handling. He also mentors recent graduates through the Australian Dental Graduate of the Year residency program, focusing on guiding young clinicians through the transition into surgical and restorative private practice.

Johan’s teaching is informed by his real-world experience performing high volumes of implant surgeries, including immediate placement and loading protocols, graftless solutions, and staged bone reconstruction. His surgical protocols reflect a balance of contemporary digital planning with a strong foundation in biological principles.

When not practicing or teaching, Johan maintains an active lifestyle on the Sunshine Coast with his wife and three children.

Dr Greg Fine

Dr Greg Fine is the principal dentist of Avenue Dental practices in north brisbane and on the sunshine coast. His clinical focus has always been dental implantology, oral surgery, dental and aesthetic dentistry. He routinely performs a wide range of surgical procedures, including complex implant placement anterior and posterior, and "All-on-X" full arch rehabilitations. Dr Fine is also accredited to provide dental care under intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia, supporting the management of patients with dental phobias, complex surgical needs, or extensive reconstructive requirements.

A graduate of the University of Queensland (BDSc Hons, 2015), Dr Fine has pursued extensive postgraduate training, including a Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology, complemented by multiple advanced courses in aesthetic dentistry, oral surgery, and digital implant planning. He is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (FICOI) and an active member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI).

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Fine is actively involved in continuing education. He regularly delivers lectures and hands-on training to both Australian and Southeast Asian clinicians. He has contributed to teaching programs in Cambodia, where he established an outreach clinic in Phnom Penh, supporting local dentists in developing surgical competencies.

Dr Fine’s professional interests include minimally invasive extraction techniques, immediate implant placement, guided bone regeneration, full arch implant reconstruction and the integration of digital workflows.
